• Regular EV Charging: You are charging an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid several times each week and want a more convenient home setup.
  • Slow Charging From a Standard Socket: Your current charging arrangement takes longer than suits your routine or does not fit your daily driving needs.

  • The charger model, charging capacity and whether smart charging features are required.
  • The distance and access between your switchboard, charger location and parking space.
  • Whether a dedicated circuit, upgraded protection, load management or switchboard work is needed. Installation is indoors, outdoors, wall-mounted, pedestal-mounted or requires trenching.

How long does EV charger installation take?

Many standard home EV charger installations can be completed during one visit. More complex projects, including long cable runs, outdoor trenching, switchboard upgrades or additional load-management work, may take longer. We will explain the expected scope and timeframe before work begins.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger?

Not always. Before installing an EV charger, we assess the maximum demand on your home, the capacity of the switchboard and the requirements of the charger. Some homes can support a charger with a dedicated circuit, while others may need upgrades or load management so charging works safely alongside your other household appliances.

What size EV charger do I need?

The right charger size depends on your vehicle, how far you drive, how long you usually have to charge and what your home’s electrical installation can safely support. We will talk through the available options and recommend a charger that suits your routine, rather than simply selecting the highest-output unit available.
